Liposculpture Treatment and Procedures Continued
The procedure itself is usually performed on an outpatient basis, often in a hospital using a local anesthesia and a light sedative so as to relax the patient. In cases where a large area of the body is being treated, a general anesthesia may be employed so as to put the patient to sleep during the entire operation. Once the patient has been sedated, the operation generally takes anywhere between one and four hours to complete.
Risks of Liposculpture
Because this procedure has been performed now for many years, serious side effects as a result of liposculpture are rare. After the procedure, it is common to have bruising in the treated areas for two to three weeks. If these areas experience discomfort, then you can take medication so as to alleviate the pain. You can also expect numbing or loss of sensation in the treated area for a limited amount of time after the operation.
After five to seven days post-operation, the stitches will be removed, and, because these are surgical scars, there will be permanent scarring. Scars from this procedure are usually two millimeters in length and should gradually fade and barely be noticeable after six months. Because this operation is surgical in nature, it is also possible to experience bleeding and infection post-operation. These are all topics you should discuss with your doctor before embarking on the procedure.
