Liposculpture Treatment and Procedures

Liposclupture, also known as liposuction or lipoplasty, is a surgical, cosmetic operation performed to remove excess fat deposits in order to better shape a person's body. There are certain people in the world who, through genetics or other means, have fat in unwanted places. When exercise and traditional weight loss methods prove unsuccessful, oftentimes the only way to remove this fat is through liposculpture.

This operation is permanent because fat cells can be removed from many different areas of the body. These include the neck, face, arms, chest, back, hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, calves, and ankles. Although liposuction is not recommended as a weight loss technique, it can help people achieve the figure and body contour they so desire. If changing the shape of your body by reducing fat is something you desire, then liposculpture should be seriously considered.

How the Procedure is Performed

In general, liposculpture is performed on people who want facial restoration and enhancement as a result of aging. In this day and age of advanced technology, collagen, autologous fat, and other filler materials have brought in new shaping techniques in terms of cosmetic surgery. In liposculture, autologous fat is used from the patient's own body to shape another portion of the body, often the face, through an injection.

In the face, this added fat can help in removing aging lines, scars, and deep creases in the skin caused by wrinkling. Over time, liposculpture may need to be repeated in order to build up volume around the treated area, and to also compensate for the fat absorbed by the body. It should be noted though that injected fat can last for long periods of time and should only occasionally require a touch-up by a doctor.
