Forehead lift Continued

At this point the surgeon will separate the skin from the underlying structure and begin to adjust that structure by removing loose skin and fat (and possibly muscle), pulling the structure into place to produce a smooth appearance, and then suturing the structure into its new position. When satisfied with his/her work, the surgeon will close the incision and will apply a bandage to your face and head to protect the wound and keep the tissue in place. Once the effects of sedation have worn off you will be ready to go home and begin the recovery process.

Many variations of the Forehead Lift surgery are available. The procedure described above is the classic Forehead Lift and has been performed for many years with excellent results. You may want to ask your surgeon about such newer techniques as the Endoscopic Forehead Lift, Endoscopic Technique with Suture Suspension and Temporal Brow Lift.

Recovery and Results

Due to the pain medication the surgeon will prescribe for you, the days immediately following your surgery will be blurry. You will need to keep your head elevated and avoid all activity for at least 7 days. You can expect swelling, bruising and pain after surgery. The pain will gradually dissipate within a few days, the bruising will go away after a few weeks and the swelling will take a few months to fully subside.

You will not be able to do vigorous activity (such as contact sports) for 6-8 weeks. If you smoke your surgeon will advise you to stop, since smoking dramatically increases your risk of developing complications and inhibits the healing process. During recovery it is important to keep in touch with your surgeon—be sure to attend follow up appointments and to contact your surgeon immediately if you have any concerns regarding your recovery.

Your surgeon will provide you with some instructions for the recovery period. Follow these instructions and your Forehead Lift surgery results will be successful.
Risks

Forehead Lift surgery, when performed by a qualified surgeon, carries few risks. However, as with all surgery, some risks are always possible. • Baldness in the area of the incision
