Facial Masks Continued
Clear Polycarbonate Face Masks
These face masks are used to alleviate the results of burns to the face. Burns to the face can result in severe scars, and one of the treatments to minimize the burn scars is to apply constant pressure. Clear polycarbonate face masks can be partially or fully molded to the contours of an individual's face, and provide uniform contact over the area. These provide many added benefits over using typical elastic fabrics. Uniform pressure is easily and accurately maintained, and there is great control of where and how much pressure is applied to give the patient the greatest benefit. In order to increase comfort, areas unaffected by burns can be left exposed. The clear plastic of the product also allows clinicians to better asses mask function in controlling blood flow to the injured tissue.
Cosmetic Surgery Face Masks
While seeking a way to measure changes in nose profiles as patients continue with surgical changes, Dr. Stanley Jacobs came across an idea that he eventually had patented. He began making facial masks for surgery. These are made before surgery, and after, but most importantly for the surgeon, also during surgery. This allows for better understanding of progress as surgical treatments continue, and also allow both doctor and patient to garner better understanding of what occurs through the phases of the transformative procedure. Dr. Jacobs also reports that it helps prospective patients understand their facial features better.
