Chemical peel

Too much sun, stress, smog and airborne chemicals, acne and a vast number of dermatologic conditions can cause skin damage. A Chemical Peel can help heal this damage and return a youthful glow to your face, neck or hands.

A variety of Chemical Peels exist, each geared toward a specific problem. An exam by a Dermatologist can help you identify if a Chemical Peel is right for you. While it won't make you younger, remove deep scars or eliminate sagging, a Chemical Peel will help you look as vibrant and healthy as you feel.

About Chemical Peel Treatments

When a Dermatologist applies a Chemical Peel to your skin, he/she is actually producing a controlled injury to the skin. With the natural healing process the damaged skin sloughs off to reveal new skin that is smoother and has a more even coloration. Three forms of Chemical Peels exist:

  • Light peels: these mild Chemical Peels use alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) to reduce fine lines and dry skin. Light Chemical Peels are performed on an outpatient basis; they take less than 20 minutes to perform and require no anesthesia. The dermatologist performs a simple procedure of cleaning the area to be treated, applying the AHA solution, waiting the prescribed amount of time, and then removing the solution. These peels are performed on a weekly or monthly basis to maintain the results.
