Breast Reduction Continued
Breast Reduction Consultations
In seeing a plastic surgeon for an initial consultation for breast reductions, the doctor will examine your breasts and take measurements. Photos may also be taken for medical records. The size and shape of the breasts, skin quality, and placement of the nipples will also be evaluated. You should be prepared to discuss your medical history, and any medications you might be taking. You should also tell your plastic surgeon if you plan to lose weight, or if your breast size has decreased with weight loss.
Breast Reduction Risks
There are complications and risks to any surgical procedure. Breast reduction is not a simple procedure, but safe when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Complications may include bleeding, infection, or anesthesia reactions. Sores are common post-surgery, and can be treated with antibiotic creams. The procedure does leave noticeable, permanent scars, and the scars heal more poorly in smokers.
